Theme Song of Olivia

The final assignment I chose was one that included my character for the semester. This assignment was the last 3 stars that I needed to complete the 10 stars for the week. The assignment was to find a theme song from a tv show, and explain how it can be about my character. I thought this would be good to better show the depth of the character. The theme song I had to choose was from Drake and Josh. The song is called I found a way. Here is the video so you can watch and get a feel for it.

So you can also read the lyrics, here they are:

[Verse 1]
Well, I never thought that it be so simple, but
I found a way, I found a way
And I always thought that it’d be too crazy, but
I found a way, I found a way
[Pre-Chorus]
If you open up your mind
See what’s inside
[Chorus]
It’s gonna take some time to realign
But if you look inside, I’m sure you’ll find
Over your shoulder you know that I told you
I’ll always be pickin’ you up when you’re down
So just turn around
[Verse 2]
Now that I know that anything’s possible
I found a way, I found a way
No one can break what is so unbreakable
I found a way, I found a way
[Pre-Chorus]
If you open up your mind
See what’s inside

[Chorus]
It’s gonna take some time, to realign
But if you look inside, I’m sure you’ll find
Over your shoulder you know that I told you
I’ll always be pickin’ you up when you’re down
So just turn around
[Verse 3]
No one cares
What you give
You know you gotta live like you wanna live
When it’s time
To be free
You know you gotta be what you wanna be
[Pre-Chorus]
If you open up your mind
See what’s inside
[Chorus]
It’s gonna take some time to realign
But if you look inside, I’m sure you’ll find
Over your shoulder you know that I told you
I’ll always be pickin’ you up when you’re down
So just turn around
Ooo

This song seems like it would speak to my character Olivia right away. It’s basically saying if you just actually look around and look at yourself, you have somebody who would do anything for you. It says that “I always thought I’d be too crazy” meaning he always thought something was wrong with him and people wouldn’t be friends with him. That’s the way Olivia feels. Even though she puts up this front that she thinks she is the best and everyone loves her, she actually thinks nobody does or ever will love/like her. It also says you need to live like you want to live not just live the way others want you to live. Olivia is always trying to do stuff that will make her parents happy and proud of her. But they have such high standards that most likely she will never be able to do either of those things.

Disney Lyrics, but No Sense at All

The next assignment that I picked was a Disney one. The assignment was to take lyrics from different Disney movies and put them into a story. Luckily the assignment doesn’t have to make sense at all! This assignment gave me 4 stars.

“Ready to know what the people know, ask ’em my questions and get some answers”(Little Mermaid) The answer? “A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, in the most delightful way.”(Mary Poppins) “And at last I see the light” (Tangled). “And the fears that once controlled me can’t get to me at all” (Frozen).  And now, ” I am on my way, I can go the distance. I don’t care how far, somehow I’ll be strong” (Hercules). “So prepare for a chance of a lifetime! Be prepared for sensational news! A shining new era is tiptoeing nearer” (The Lion King).

Honestly, I picked my favorite quotes out of movies and just put them together.

“Hello” or “Hangry”

The first of assignments I picked from the assignment bank was to make a parody of a verse of a song. I picked Adele’s song Hello. That one is pretty simple when I was considering a good parody. I am very hungry today, so I decided to make the verse coming from the new song Hangry. This assignment was worth 3 points.

Original verse:

Hello from the other side
I must have called a thousand times
To tell you I’m sorry for everything that I’ve done
But when I call you never seem to be home

My verse:

Hella pizza late at night, I keep saying just one more slice, and I feel so hangry — breakfast, dinner and lunch — and the ice cream truck is the only reason I run anymore

Just in case you couldn’t remember the tune, here is the original song!

Which Genre’s Better?

Finding one song sang in 2 different genres is always so interesting to watch. It let’s you have an almost “what if” for the song, like “what if it was sang like this, would it do better or worse?”

That’s why upon reading this assignment that I thought of, yes, the Musical Genre Challenge on Jimmy Fallon. The one I would like to use is the one none other than Ariana Grande. I was able to find the video that had what I was looking for, but it was covered the whole segment as opposed to the one song. So enjoy watching it all, but focus on the song God’s Plan.

Here is the Original God’s Plan by Drake:

And here is God’s Plan by Ariana Grande in the 90s Diva Genre!

Personally, I prefer the original, but Ariana’s takes a very close second. I think I just always enjoy originals better since they are the ones that get stuck in my head first, but they are both pretty darn good!!

Which one do you like better? Let me know below!

Calm Beach!

When I read the assignment from the bank for this week, I noticed the one that said create a place using sound. Of course, the first place I thought of was the beach. It was so easy to make such a calming noise. AND I got 4 stars from it! 🙂

This is when I can add in my character as well. The character Olivia, LOVES to throw beach parties! The secret truth is she doesn’t do it for the party, she does it for the calm sounds. As expressed below:
